We are finally starting to get settled in to the new house, and we love it. We have SO much more space, and a great yard for the boys to run and play in. I love our front porch, and the view of our new neighbors.
I have started (trying) to get up early(ish) in the morning, at least 30 minutes before the boys wake up. I sit on the front porch and enjoy the cool morning and a cup of hot coffee. Sometimes I read my Bible, and sometimes I just sit and enjoy the silence. I have noticed that it makes a world of difference in how the rest of my day goes. Just that little bit of time to myself seems to help get my day started right and puts me in a better frame of mind.
Do you have a morning ritual? Any little things that help start your day off right?

I am by no means a morning person, so it's definitely better for me to spend some alone time in the morning...these days, I pour my coffee & spend some time blogging/commenting (with a family of 7, the computer is in pretty high demand, and it's the only uninterrupted time I have). However, once I get married, I'd like to rearrange my schedule so I can read the bible while I drink my coffee - so I can be sure to get it done instead of forgetting about it later! :)
ReplyDelete{sorry for the looong comment!}
I've been needing to find a morning ritual, honestly. Since I work from home, there are days that within 5-10 minutes of getting out of bed I'm already working and I'm not a big fan of those days. I wish we had a porch to sit on!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while! Your new place looks like heaven! It's good to take time to reflect on the day ahead.
ReplyDeletemy morning ritual currently is dragging out of bed after Bran has yelled to me from the bathroom for about 20 minutes that it is time to get up, and then rushing to find clean clothes, get dressed, my hair in a ponytail and maybe some makeup. i would much rather my routine involve a workout, some quiet time, and plenty of time to get ready.... but i'm lazy. oh well.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of early mornings, but a diet coke always helps me get through it! :)
ReplyDeleteYour new place seems awesome! Good for you. I do have a morning routine but it's just me getting ready & going to work. I suppose something I enjoy I only did for a while - I started the Couch to 5K program this summer and really enjoyed getting up crazy early to run. Then I quit when it got nasty hot & humid. :) But I'm starting again, this week! So I look forward to that.
ReplyDeletehooray for getting settled! your view looks delightful.
ReplyDeletei am not even close to a morning person, but i do try to drag myself up earlier than anyone else. bible, pot of coffee and quiet. like you, when this happens, mama is a happy girl!
i cant imagine how amazing it would be to have a porch! we live downtown, so it isn't really quiet out there in the mornings;)
