Spread the Joy

After reading this post over on Hannah's blog, I started thinking about things we could do to bring a little bit of joy to others this season. It's important to my husband and I to teach our boys to give to others and to serve others. I want them to be aware of the needs around them, and to have a heart to meet these needs. I also want them to find joy in doing kind things for others.

Over the weekend I made a batch of peppermint bark, packaged it up in these cute bags I found at Target (of course!) and we delivered them to friends and family. I'm making another batch today to take to our neighbors. We have lived here since September, but haven't really met any of our neighbors. Well, except that kind lady who came over and killed the snake that was hanging out on our walkway. Because I don't get near snakes. God bless her.
Moving along...I thought it would be a good opportunity to meet them, and brighten their day a bit. It's just a small thing, I know. But sometimes it's the smallest things, the little thoughtful things, that put the biggest smile on my face.

What types of things are you doing this holiday season to give back? What has someone done to bless you? Share you stories. I would love to hear about the joy being spread this holiday season!

  1. This is such an amazing season isn't it?! Ways that I'm giving back include donating items to our local Sharing and Caring Families (helping families in need). I am also giving away a giftcard on my blog to my sweet followers that make my day so much sweeter ;-) Happy Holidays!!

  2. We just moved last month and haven't really met our new neighbors either. I need to whip up some Christmas goods and go meet them!

  3. I try to always take my kids to a store and let them choose an angel tree, it gets them thinking of another child's need and I hope they also realize just how much they already have, despite being foster children.
