Our curriculum arrived yesterday. I'm not sure who was more excited, me or Jackson. We tore into it immediately, and had it strung all over the dining room. We laid on the floor together and looked through the books, checked out the ant hill & butterfly garden, and broke out the Cuisenaire Rods. For an hour or more he sat there, on the floor of our dining room. He sorted, and counted, and built and stacked. He talked about how much he loved his new school stuff and how excited he was that Mommy was going to be teaching him at home.
I'm nervous, and scared, and have wondered at least a million times if I'm worthy of teaching my children. But yesterday, I knew. Without a doubt, I knew that we had made the right decision.
This makes my heart glad.
ReplyDeleteI've always said I'm not cut out to homeschool, but now that school is actually happening for us, I wonder. As mamas it's often so hard to know what is best for our families. I'm so glad that, with this, you know. xoxo
i can't wait to read more about your adventures in homeschooling. i've told jeremy many times that i want to consider that option for our boys too. hope you'll continue to share!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love his enthusiasm for learning + your being his teacher!! :))
ReplyDeleteThat's so GREAT that you knew.
ReplyDeleteI'm so nervous about teaching Roxy too. I think I'm more nervous that I won't have it all together enough to help her be amazing! You know?! I want her to want to learn and to be an insatiable reader and to go to college, even if it's for dance, or welding, or art or to be a dr. I want my girls to feel competent enough. And that's all up to me and how I do things and I'm scatterbrained and indecisive and....yeah....it'll all be good though, right?
Just gotta get other homeschooling momma friends to bounce things off of and vent to and get and give inspiration, encouragement and love to.
Yeah...
;D
You are. Going to do great!!
ReplyDeletelove this. you have SO got this...
ReplyDeleteyou are already teaching him and you do a fantastic job!! i'm so excited for you guys!!
ReplyDeleteI admire moms that school their children at home. I have always wanted to do it.
ReplyDeleteyou are going to be a superstar teacher dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteYou will do great. The first year is the hardest but teaching your children is one of the hardest and most rewarding things you can do for your littles.
