Come On Get Happy

Happiness: A state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.

A couple evenings ago, Scott and I were sitting on our front porch steps watching the boys play and just chatting about the days events. After a moment of quiet, Scott said, "you know, we have it made". I nodded my head in agreement, and he continued, "I think sometimes we forget to just be happy where we are".
Scott & I spend a lot of time talking about the future. We talk and we plan and we dream about the life we want for our boys, the life we want for ourselves. Future jobs, future homes, different cities. We aren't ungrateful for what we have, but I think he was right, I think we DO forget to just be happy where we are. I don't think that choosing to be happy with your current state means settling, and I don't think it means that you have to stop dreaming. I think it means taking a good look around at all that you have, and being happy in that moment, and with that time in your life. We have so much. SO much. For me to choose to disregard that would be nothing short of sinful.

Today, I will choose to be happy because...

I have a husband who loves me, and always puts me first
That same husband works hard, and has a good job that allows me to stay home with our children
We have two happy, healthy little boys
We have a wonderful group of friends (both here and far away) who truly care about us
We have a lovely home, with a big yard that our children can run & play in
We have two cars that not only get us back & forth, but do it dependably
We have food in our bellies, and clothes on our backs
We have someone who loves us like no other, even when we are rotten and sinful and ungrateful, and who gently reminds us to take a good look at all He has given us, and to choose to be happy.
